Luggage to be checked in - transported in the hold
Below we explain in detail the free baggage allowance that you may check in, which varies depending on the origin and destination of your flight.
Piece system (Americas, Africa and Middle East): an allowance of:3 pieces of up to 23 kg each for Business Class. 2 pieces of up to 23 kg each for Economy Class.
Weight system (Domestic, Europe and Israel): an allowance of: Up to 30 kg in Business Class. Up to 23 kg in Economy Class.
This allowance is applicable on all Iberia flights as well as those operated by Iberia Regional Air Nostrum. If you are travelling on a code share flight with a flight number that corresponds with either the IB-5000 or IB-7000 series, the regulations of the operating company concerning luggage allowance will apply.

*If the journey originates in Brazil, the authorised weight will be 32 kg instead of 23 kg, which will be applied on the inbound as well as the outbound journey.
** If the journey originates or terminates in Chile the allowance for Chile will apply regardless of where the journey originates.
Regulations which are common to both Baggage Allowance systems
The maximum weight per item is fixed at 23 kg.
Each individual item checked in may not exceed 158 cm (calculated by adding length+width+height),with the exception of special items of luggage..
However, pieces weighing between 23 kg and 32 kg shall be accepted with a surcharge for excess baggage of ¤50 per item, payable at the airport of departure..
Please note this is only applicable to journeys to which the piece system applies.
Special individual items of luggage weighing between 32 kg and 45 kg, e.g. musical instruments, TV video equipment, industrial spare parts, etc., can be transported but must always be checked in as excess baggage and paid for at the excess baggage rate corresponding to your flight: €150 for the Piece system and €125 for the weight system calculated according to intervals of 5 kg, charged at €5 per kilo rate.
Children under 2 in possession of an Infant ticket have a luggage allowance of one piece of up to 23 kg plus a pushchair, under both baggage allowance systems.
Children over the age of 2 have the same baggage allowance applicable to adults.
All Iberia Plus Platinum, Gold, Silver and Club Fiesta card holders are entitled to an additional and free luggage allowance:
Iberia Plus Platinum and Club Fiesta 20 kg or 1 Piece
Iberia Plus Gold 15 kg or 1 Piece
Iberia Plus Silver 10 kg or 1 Piece
Luggage that exceeds the allowance
Any article that exceeds the free baggage allowance will be considered excess baggage.
Iberia's regulations regarding the transportation of baggage establish a maximum weight per item of 23 kg and maximum dimensions of 158 cm (sum of length+width+height).
On the majority of routes customers can pay in advance online for their excess baggage and take advantage of a 30% discount on airport rates.*
Excess baggage can always be paid for at the airport.*
If travelling with excess baggage please make sure to arrive at the checkin counter at least 20 minutes before the recommended time.

Excess Baggage Rates
Piece System - America, Africa and the Middle East:
The excess baggage rate shall be charged at €150 per item.*
Iberia.com offers discounts on airport prices.
No limits are enforced on the number of pieces of excess baggage that can be checked in except at those destinations where specific regulations apply. For example Africa, where only one additional piece of excess luggage will be permitted (except Johannesburg where the amount of excess baggage which can be checked in is unlimited)..
Items which correspond with the standard baggage allowance and weighing between 23 kg and 32 kg shall be accepted with an excess baggage surcharge of €50.
*Except in the case of those Governments who impose their own tariffs.
Weight System - Spain, Europe, Israel and Chile:
The excess baggage charge shall be calculated according to intervals of 5 kg, charged at €5 per kilo rate.
Iberia.com offers discounts on airport prices. Excess baggage from/to Chile is calculated at 1% of the one-way full economy fare.
The minimum shall be an interval of 5 kg, equivalent to €25. 10 kg of excess shall be equivalent to €50 and so on.
An unrestricted number of kilograms of excess baggage may be transported, except to those countries where special restrictions apply..
Individual items of luggage weighing between 23 kg and 32 kg will be accepted as long as excess is paid on the weight exceeding the baggage allowance limits
